Peyton List, who hails from Baltimore, Maryland, is a former model and television actress recognized for playing Lucy Montgomery on the daytime soap As The World Turns during her teens. Together with her older sister, List began an early career in modeling even as a she was studying at the Roland Park County School in her hometown. When she was eight, Peyton sought work from a children's advertising agency in Washington. She subsequently landed an appearance in a Kraft Macaroni & Cheese ad.
At 12 years of age, she joined her sister in New York City to enroll in the School of American Ballet. Peyton was also able to acquire contracts under the Ford Models and Innovative Artists modeling agencies. Balancing work and her studies became a challenge as she was constantly getting modeling assignments. She then made it onto the catwalk and in catalogues before eventually making it on television. Her onscreen debut was a small role in an episode of Sex and the City in 2000.
Peyton was the second actress to have inherited the role of the wealthy Memorial Hospital intern Lucy Montgomery, appearing on the show from December 2001 to January 2005 when she opted not to renew her contract. Since then, she has made her rounds on several regular network and cable series. Apart from her recurring characters on the short-lived shows Windfall and Day Break in 2006, List also won her first series regular gig on the ABC drama Big Shots in 2007. After the show fell off ABC's Fall schedule, she got employed in the critically-acclaimed 60s ad agency drama by AMC, Mad Men, as the fill-in secretary of Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm. In 2009, she was hired as one of the female leads in the NBC drama Flash Forward, co-starring Joseph Fiennes.
